Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation published

The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) publication on the 28th of June 2024 is a major step for the ECHT project.

The ESPR aims to reduce the environmental impact of products throughout their lifecycle and promote a more circular and sustainable economy. The key point is to make products more durable, reusable, repairable, and recyclable.

Entering into force on 18 July 2024, this regulation paves the way for the future delegated acts that will define more precisely new requirements for products group.

Textile clothing and flooring is part of the first product group, alongside with batteries and construction products, subjected to Sustainable Product Policies.

The ESPR will implement a Digital Passport Product (DPP) that will allow to increase the transparency and traceability of the products. ECHT aims to help the industry establish chemicals traceability for a circular economy by enabling the DPP.
